AUTUMN WORLD CAFÉ SESSION SCHEDULED FOR OCTOBER 26

The Marcellus Central School district will continue its community listening sessions with a World Café that is scheduled for Wednesday, October 26, 2011 at the Driver Middle School Cafeteria. During last year’s budget development process, the school district used three World Café Sessions to promote community discussions about the future of the school district. With the help of a facilitator, the world café meetings promoted dialogue and discourse regarding the community survey results in addition to focusing on “essential questions” that helped the district to prioritize the educational programs on behalf of the children. With the advent of the Governor’s Property Tax Cap (which will limit future tax levy increases) and the considerable loss of NYS school aid, the community will have to focus its conversations on which educational programs it would like to preserve and maintain in a time of diminishing resources. The World Café Sessions - which will be held on October 26, 2011 and February 15, 2012 - will help to provide feedback to school officials along with the Annual Alumni Holiday Tea (December 22) and our regularly scheduled Town Meetings (March 21 @ KCH, March 29 @ SHS, and April 2 @ DMS) during the school budget development season.
