The Marcellus High School Mustang Wrestling team received the 2011-2012 John Arcaro Memorial Sportsmanship Award from the Syracuse Wrestling Officials Association, at a ceremony held Feb. 11, during the Section III finals at Onondaga Community College’s SRC Arena.
The award is given each year to the school team that exhibits the highest standards of good sportsmanship through the actions of its administrators, coaches, wrestlers and fans.
“You and your fellow administrators should be very, very proud of the effort your coaches, wrestlers and, last but certainly not least, your fans have put forth all season long to maintain such a very high level of good sportsmanship,” SWOA Secretary Fred Brown wrote in a letter to Marcellus Director of Athletics Bradford Dates.
Coach Todd Donovan accepted the award on behalf of the team.
