Twitter has more than 175 million registered users sending nearly 180 million Tweets per day and is averaging 460,000 new members daily.
Today, Marcellus Central Schools became one of them, as @MarcellusCSD.
It's all part of the district's ongoing effort to bolster communication about Marcellus schools, on as many platforms as possible: School News Notifier or SNN (emailed alerts about news and events), School Messenger (an automated phone system to report emergencies and school closings), the district website, community and staff newsletters and, now, Twitter.
In today’s multi-screen world, it can be tough to know where to find the most reliable information. But when it comes to what’s happening inside our local schools, the Marcellus School District will continue to be your best and first source of news, on as many screens as possible.
"Twitter is the just the newest tool in our communications kit," Superintendent of Schools Craig J. Tice said.
We look forward to staying in touch with you on this new channel.
