Look for MCS budget newsletter in the mail soon

Check your mailbox soon for the Marcellus Central School District budget newsletter.

The newsletter is packed with information on the 2013-14 budget proposal, including:

• An overview of the $30.4 million proposed budget;
• Answers to frequently asked budget questions;
• A look at student achievement in 2012-13;
• A breakdown of 2013-14 revenue sources and proposed expenditures; and
• Voter information.

A public hearing on the budget is scheduled for 7 p.m. May 14 at Marcellus High School, 1 Mustang Hill, Marcellus.

Residents will vote on the budget proposal from noon to 9 p.m. May 21 at Marcellus High School.

This year, there will be three other propositions on the ballot, in addition to the 2013-14 budget proposal, for voters to consider:

• The purchase of six 66-passenger buses: $615,512;
• The construction and installation of a wireless communication network: $598,960; and
• Four seats on the Marcellus Board of Education.
