Compiled by Newsweek and The Daily Beast, the list highlights the 2,000 public high schools in the nation that have proven to be the most effective in turning out college-ready graduates.
Marcellus ranked 1,502, the seventh-highest out of all 24 OCM BOCES schools.

"To be recognized by Newsweek as being among the 2,000 best high schools in the nation for 2013, in conjunction with our 2012 Silver Medal by U.S. News & World Report, helps to validate all of our hard work to provide rigorous courses - including Advance Placement options - for our students."
Using data collected in a survey of more than 2,500 schools, the news organizations based the list on six components: graduation rate (25 percent), college acceptance rate (25 percent), Advanced Placement (AP) and International Baccalaureate (IB) tests taken per student (25 percent), average SAT/ACT scores (10 percent), average AP/IB scores (10 percent), and percent of students enrolled in at least one AP/IB course (5 percent).

- Cazenovia Junior-Senior High School: 941
- Westhill High School: 1,023
- Charles W. Baker High School: 1,068
- West Genesee High School: 1,287
- Marcellus Senior High School: 1,502
- East Syracuse Minoa Central High School: 1,564
- Cicero-North Syracuse High School: 1,621
- Marathon Junior-Senior High School, 1,846
