Scattered raindrops and a brisk breeze were not enough to dampen the resolve of K.C. Heffernan Elementary School's students and teachers, who paraded outdoors in full Halloween regalia on Thursday, to the delight of scores of parents and friends waiting for them beneath umbrellas.
All manner of creature, superhero, civil servant, silver screen star and ghoulish spectre could be spotted marching along the upper sidewalk between KCH and Driver Middle School, as cameras flashed and video recorders rolled.
There were Hollys (of the Hobby and Golightly variety), minions, full-bearded Red Sox players, Marios (of videogame fame), skeletons, Darth Vaders and Luke Skywalkers, court jesters, witches, princesses, scarecrows, police officers, firefighters, birds (of the Angry variety) and so many others.
At DMS, meanwhile, students poured into the hallways in their costumes, as they made their way to the auditorium for a special end-of-day assembly. Among those spotted, a swarm of "spelling" bees (alter egos of the fourth-grade teaching staff), a Japanese sumo wrestler, wizards, crayons, maps, and so much more.
Best wishes for a fun and safe Halloween!
