Marcellus Central Schools present 'Ella Enchanted' Nov. 15-17

The hard work of some 85 Marcellus students in grades one through 12 pays off this weekend with Marcellus Central Schools' production of "Ella Enchanted."

The show, suitable for all ages, is set in a medieval kingdom. The main character, Ella (Rachel Sayre), struggles with a curse given to her in infancy that forces her to be obedient to all. Comedy abounds from Ella's awkward relationship with Prince Char (Mike Clark), whose power-hungry uncle (Neil Kelly) oppresses the mystical land's elf, giant and ogre races.

Other primary characters include an elf who wants to be a lawyer (Ian Tock), Ella’s step-family (Alexandra Sheridan, Mackenzie Sadler and Alex Cormack), a witty narrator (Teagan Todd), an evil wizard (Matt Bailey) and a couple of godmothers ... well, aunts ... played by Abby Vensel and Juliana Beratta.
The plot involves Ella’s quest to be rid of the curse. But when the prince falls in love with her, Ella tries to use her new friendship to bring equality to the elves, giants (Emily Martens, Josh Finch) and ogres (Zac Markham, Matt Gooden, Andrew Murphy). It's a whirlwind of love, hate, betrayal, revenge and teen angst. Who could ask for more?

Showtimes are 7 p.m. Nov. 15, 1:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. Nov. 16, and 1:30 p.m. Sunday in the Marcellus High School auditorium. Tickets cost $5 for students and $7 for adults.

High school English classes will be treated to a sneak peek preview performance during the school day Nov 15.
