First “Town Meeting” set for tonight (March 14) at KCH

As part of the Marcellus Central School District’s continuing effort to engage the community in a discussion about the district’s financial future, administrators have scheduled three Town Meetings this month.

The first meeting is 7 to 8:30 p.m. today (Thursday, March 14), at K.C. Heffernan Elementary School.

“While the Board of Education and administration remain committed to using our limited resources effectively and efficiently, we also know difficult decisions will need to be made in the not too distant future,” Superintendent of Schools Dr. Craig J. Tice said.

“Community input at these town meetings will help to continue the dialogue between the home and the school and provide important information from which to make informed decisions," Dr. Tice continued. "I hope residents can find time in their busy schedules to attend.”

The Town Meetings will feature an overview of the district's budget development process for 2013-14,
legislative updates about New York state’s budget process, and a preview of some of the decisions district officials must make before they present a proposed budget to voters on May 21.

The next meetings will be:

  • 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 20, at Marcellus High School.
  • 7 to 8:30 p.m. Monday, March 25, at C.S. Driver Middle School.
