All
Marcellus Central Schools faculty and staff will participate in two
safety-related drills on Thursday, March 28, as part of a professional
development day in the district. Students have no classes Thursday or Friday,
and will not be on campus for the training exercises.
The
drills will include a mock evacuation to an off-campus site, as well as an
“active shooter” drill that will be conducted with the assistance of local law
enforcement agencies.
Teachers
also will be participating in “formative assessment” sessions with facilitators
from Onondaga-Cortland-Madison BOCES.
Such assessments help teachers determine how well students are learning
the materials presented during classroom lessons.
