A veterans' property tax exemption went into effect in 1986 for towns, counties, cities and villages. In December 2013, the law was amended to allow school districts to offer the exemption.
Rebecca Speno, attorney with Bond, Schoeneck & King, gave a presentation about the tax law change at the May 6 Board of Education meeting.
