Back by popular demand, the K.C. Heffernan Elementary PTO, Driver Middle School PTA and High School Parent Group are once again organizing a campus-wide ice cream social. And, once again, they need volunteers!
The event, which expands on KCH’s long-standing annual tradition of hosting an ice cream social in May, will be held in the grassy fields between the elementary high school and Marcellus High School on Friday, May 23.
Throughout the course of the day, students, staff and faculty will attend the social during rotating, 30-minute time slots, between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. The parent-teacher groups will set up tables where students can sit and enjoy their ice cream and socialize. Organizers also plan to have an array of sports balls, chalk, hoops and more on hand for students to enjoy.
It takes a lot of hands to scoop enough ice cream for roughly 1900 students and staff, so the KCH PTO, DMS PTA and High School Parent Group are sounding the call for volunteers willing to help out for one- or two-hour shifts between 9:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. on May 23.
Anyone interested in volunteering can contact Diana Bird at midibird@yahoo.com or 673-0774, or Margie Vensel at gabsisters@live.com or 673-9698.
