“Seeds of Learning” summer calendar available free to district residents

Looking for ideas on how to keep your young ones learning over the summer months? Marcellus Central School District is offering a free summer calendar that is chock-full of summertime activity suggestions for the parents of pre-school and kindergarten students.

Developed by the award-winning Parent Today team, the 2014 Seeds of Learning summer calendar includes book suggestions and hands-on activities designed to encourage responsibility in young children and address kindergarten readiness skills, such as cutting paper and counting.

Parent Today is an email newsletter and companion website – available free to Marcellus residents – that is designed to help build a stronger bridge between families and the classroom. Parent Today is packed with research-based information that empowers parents and supports teachers. It addresses four “chapters” of a child’s life – early learners, elementary school, the middle years and high school – with stories about what is happening in the classroom and students’ lives. The companion website offers resources to subscribing families that encourage parents to be more fully engaged in their child’s academic life.
