7th and 8th Grade Band, 7th and 8th Grade Choir/Select Choir

The newly renovated Groeling Auditorium at Marcellus Senior High School was alive with both music and art as the 7th/8th Grade Band and the 7th/8th Grade Choir and Select Choir presented their Spring Concert on Thursday, May 20, 2010. Art work created by Cher Ferrara and Shannon Femano’s Driver Middle School art students was projected onto the screen throughout the concert performance. The Driver Middle School 7th/8th Grade Band, under the direction of Audrey Turner, performed “King Across the Water”, “Air for Band”, “Four of a Kind”, “Mission Impossible Theme”, and “Semper Fidelis”. The trumpet section was featured on “Four of a Kind” with the following trumpet players sharing their considerable talents: Drew Mosher, Matt Corcoran, Evan Turner, Roxie Novak, Ben Posecznick, Brad Kaler, Rachel Garn, and Noelle Cotter. The 7th/8th Grade Select Choir, under the direction of Kristen Peenstra, performed “Uma Familia”, “I Dreamed a Dream”, “The Silver Swan”, “Can You Feel The Love Tonight”, and “Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da”. Featured performers included soloist Natalie Fournier on “I Dreamed a Dream” and soloist Bekka Myers on “Can You Feel the Love Tonight”. High school musicians Dan Poorman (Bass), Zach Schmidt (Guitar), and Stu Synakowski (Percussion) joined the choir for “Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da”. The 7th/8th Grade Choir, also under the direction of Peenstra, performed “Siyahamba”, “Gloria in Excelsis Deo”, “Seasons of Love”, “The Climb”, and “Can You Hear”. Featured singers during the performance included Mary Morocco, Matthew Gooden, Ally Burrows, Tessa Mosher, Nellie Ramsden, and Hannah Zimmer. The 7th/8th Grade Choir would like to thank Anoush Minasian Santangelo who accompanied on piano. A special highlight of the concert presentation was a performance by the 8th Grade Advanced Music Ensemble, “The Clef Hangers”. The group , directed by Peenstra, wove together a creative mix of percussion and guitar as the performed “Kizum”(Music Sounded Backward).
