Marcellus Sports Booster Club Block M Awards Program

The Marcellus Sports Booster Club, in conjunction with the Marcellus Senior High School Athletic Department, held its annual Block M athletic awards program in the Groeling Auditorium on June 8, 2010. The event celebrates the accomplishments of more than 300 varsity sports student athletes from the fall, winter, and spring seasons. The ceremony was hosted by athletic director Bradford Dates and included remarks by Karen Cotter/Sports Booster Club President, Lisa Vaughn/Sports Booster Club Scholarship Committee, and Marcellus varsity sports coaches Joe Goss/football and boys golf, Lindy Drapikowski/cheerleading, Jennifer Griffin/boys soccer, Marion Smith and Sarah Cox/gymnastics, Oscar Jensen/cross country, Laurie Updike/girls soccer, Jill King/girls swimming, Ryan Thayer/girls and boys tennis, Hy Bryant/volleyball, James Marsh/boys basketball, Rick Belvito/girls indoor track, Heidi Busa/boys indoor track, Todd Donovan/wrestling, Mike Vincent/girls basketball and girls golf, Pete Birmingham/baseball, Richard Lundblad/girls lacrosse, Lisa Maclachlan/softball, Jim Morrissey/boys lacrosse, Ted McCrone/girls track and field, and Heidi Busa/boys track and field. Student Athletes and their families were greeted with a photo slide show of the 2009-2010 varsity sports year as they entered the newly renovated auditorium to be seated. The program for the evening included the presentation of individual team honors and MVPs, the presentation of “multi sport” senior awards, the announcement of “special awards”, the honoring of Booster Club Scholarship recipients, the presentation of Athletic Department Awards, and the announcement of the George Arthur Award.
