K.C. Heffernan Elementary School Art Show
The halls at K.C. Heffernan (KCH) Elementary School were filled with an exceptional array of student creativity throughout the month of May as Fran Hagan, KCH Art Teacher, staged her annual student art show. Families and community members had the opportunity to visit the art show from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM daily. The highlight of this year’s art show was a tribute to District bus drivers. Art classes created posters that showcased the dedication of the district’s transportation experts. Dean Kloss’ first grade class poster read as follows:
“We like your driving, it makes us feel safe. Maybe someday we can do your job. You are nice for giving us treats on special days.”
The words were surrounded by individual student drawings of “school busses”.
The variety of student art work displayed at the show was highly impressive as were the written descriptions that gave visitors insight into the creative process used in the elementary art program. Hagan welcomed visitors to a museum type experience that included works of art from every KCH Pre-1st-3rd grade student and featured the artistic areas of drawing, painting, pottery, and sculpture.
