Senior Ball Weekend

The Senior Ball weekend at Marcellus Senior High School brought not only excitement and joy but also a wide variety of activities designed to enhance the enjoyment and safety of all those who participated. The weekend began on Friday, May 14th with the senior breakfast which was held in the high school cafeteria. The highlight of the breakfast festivities was the distribution of “after the ball party money” to the Class of 2010 by members of the After the Ball Committee. Later in the day seniors had the opportunity to take a walk down memory lane as they visited K. C. Heffernan Elementary School for a luncheon held in the KCH library. As students feasted on pizza and salad, a slide show of their years at KCH played on the library walls and “class picture” placemats graced the table settings. Students had the chance to visit elementary classrooms and teachers for one last goodbye to their years at KCH. Of particular note was the number of students who looked for their own self-portrait in hallway “shadow boxes” created during Fran Hagan’s elementary art classes nine years earlier. Saturday’s festivities began with the annual “classic car” reception and parade. Students and families had Senior Ball photos taken by Midgley Photography before being chauffeured to the dance in a classic car. The Senior Ball parade cars spanned the decades from the 1930s to the present. Following the Senior Ball, held at the New York State Fairgrounds Empire Room, couples were once again chauffeured in a classic car to the “after the ball” party. The Ultimate Goal Soccer Center provided the venue as food and games awaited students upon their arrival. Partygoers were able to cash in their winnings for prizes such as televisions, CD players, DVD players, dorm refrigerators, gift certificates, iPods, and gift certificates. The Marcellus Central School District would like to express its sincere appreciation to the After the Ball Party committee chairpersons for their tireless efforts in providing for the safety and entertainment of the class of 2010.
