Driver Middle School National Junior Honor Society Induction

“The National Junior Honor Society is often equated with grades. I like to equate the society with honesty, commitment, and service. These students you see tonight are much more than grades. They are students who have given hours to others and to their community.” With these words Michael Dardaris, Principal, welcomed families to the Driver Middle School (DMS) National Junior Honor Society Induction Ceremony held on May 2nd in the Aitchison Auditorium. Faculty adviser Marguerite Sundberg spoke to the lighting of the five honor society candles and shared that “light is a symbol for knowledge and truth”. Current National Junior Honor Society members followed Sundberg on the program as they presented an overview of honor society traits and completed the “lighting of the five candles” ceremony as follows:

· Scholarship: Audrey Cerrone and Nellie Ramsden
· Leadership: Mary Morocco
· Service: Tessa Mosher
· Character: Colleen Ferguson
· Citizenship: Gianna Dixe

The DMS National Junior Honor Society Induction Ceremony came to a conclusion and new inductees recited the honor society pledge and received their honor society certificates. A reception for new honor society members and their families was held in the DMS cafeteria following the induction events. Congratulations go out to the 2011 National Junior Honor Society Inductees:
