One of the most anticipated and exciting performances of the Marcellus Schools spring concert season is the Marcellus Elementary Band’s Showcase Concert. This year’s Showcase event was held on Wednesday, May 11, 2011 in the Groeling Auditorium. The unique musical evening was conducted by Elementary Band Director Carmen Costa and the program featured each section of the band. The program selections included:
· ‘Under the Double Eagle March”
· “Flutes with a Flair” featuring the flute section
· “Trumpet Hero” featuring the trumpet section
· “Blazing Clarinets” featuring the clarinet section
· “Low Brass Boogie” featuring the bass clarinet, French horn, trombone, baritone, and tuba sections
· “In the Mood” featuring the saxophone section
· “Wipe Out” featuring the percussion section
· “Themes from Walt Disney’s Fantasia”
· “Sounds of Sousa”
The concert also included the traditional music and movement piece “I Am a Fine Musician” with student musicians Lauren Lundrigan as the Trumpet Player, Justin Costa as the Trombone Player, Nate Murphy as the Tuba Player, and Hannah Tarolli as the Piccolo Player.
