Senior Ball Weekend

The Marcellus High School Senior Ball Weekend brought not only the joy and memories of the Senior Ball itself but also a host of activities designed to enhance the enjoyment and the safety of all those who participated. The weekend got off to a rousing start on Friday, May 20th with the annual Senior Class Breakfast held in the high school cafeteria. John Durkee, SHS Principal, welcomed the Class of 2011 to a delicious breakfast sponsored by the Marcellus After the Ball Party Committee. Superintendent Dr. Craig Tice along with After the Ball Chairperson addressed the senior class members and stressed the need for safety throughout the weekend. The highlight of the morning breakfast was the distribution of “after the ball” money to be used for a variety of games and activities at the After the Ball Party. Later in the day seniors had the opportunity to take a walk down memory lane as they attended a luncheon held in the K. C. Heffernan Elementary School library. As class members enjoyed a lunch of pizza and salad, a slide show depicting their elementary school years played on the Library walls. “Class picture” place mats graced the tables and the library photos from senior class elementary days decorated the walls. Students could take photos of themselves and also had the opportunity to visit their elementary classrooms and teachers. Saturday’s festivities began with the annual “classic car” reception and parade. Each couple was assigned a “classic car” and chauffeured to the Senior Ball. Following the Senior Ball, held at the Empire Room at the New York State Fairgrounds, couples were once again chauffeured in a classic car, this time to the “After the Ball” Party at the Ultimate Goal. Students had the opportunity to play a variety of games at the party and cash in their winnings at party auctions for prizes such as TVs, CD players, DVD players, dorm refrigerators, microwaves, and iPods. The Marcellus Central School District would like to thank the After the Ball committee chairpersons for their tireless efforts in providing for the safety and entertainment of the Class of 2011.
