A major component of any professional learning community is the celebration of excellence in teaching, outstanding academic achievement, and dedicated community service. When one of us shines, we all shine!! With that in mind, we like to share and celebrate the accomplishments of some of our Marcellus Central School District colleagues and students. Congratulations go out to:
The brownies of Marcellus Brownie Troup 763 who collected 80 boxes of cookies to donate to the Galisano Children’s Hospital. The cookies were delivered to Sue Karl who is a child life specialist at the hospital. The Marcellus group received a tour of the chapel and the hospital library where the young patients can borrow books, magazines, and video games. The Marcellus brownies were delighted to see constellation hall where every person who has donated money to the hospital has a “star” which is connected to a constellation in the sky. The cookies were given to children without food allergies or restrictions and also placed in the hospital family rooms where parents wait during surgery. Additionally, the brownie girls created eighty 4X6 cards to be placed on patient food trays. The security guard at the hospital shared stories of her Girl Scout days with the Troup and Karl answered questions and shared how wonderful the hospital children will feel upon receiving the cookies and the pictures. Each Marcellus Brownie Troup member received a “Gift of Caring” patch from the NYPennways Girl Scout Council. Brownie Troup 763 listed as follows are students in the Marcellus Central School District: Abigail Brandt, Jamie Carlton, Emily Comer, Hannah Curtin, Lauryn Faulkner, Meghan Faulkner, Skylyr Honeywell, DiAnna Markham, Katie McCartney, Juliette Rogers, Sydney Valentine, Laura Canny, Elaina Couse, Alaura Cushman, Lauren Keyes, Sara Mack and Rose MacLaughlin.
