Driver Middle School Spring Choral Concert

The Marcellus Music Department presented the Driver Middle School Spring Choral Concert on Thursday, May 19, 2011 in the Groeling Auditorium. The concert included performances by the 5th/6th Grade Choir, the 7th/8th Select Choir, the 7th/8th Grade Choir, and a special performance by the Faculty Choir. The 5th and 6th grade choir, under the direction of Jennifer Patterson, performed:
· “Get It Together, Harambee!” by Will Schmid, Percussion: Ally Clancy, Liliana Cushman, Brianna Linn, Rachel Tanguay; Soloists: Nate Murphy, Makayla Spicer, Maggie Kianka
· “Fireflies” by Adam Young
· “Song of the River” by Mark Patterson
· “Call Me” by Will Schmid, Percussion: Trisha Curtin, Hannah Tarolli, Dannell Trammell; Soloists: Grace Vensel, Zachary Osborne
· “Lightning!” by Greg Gilpin
· “The Spirit of Adventure” by Michael Giacchino

The 7th and 8th Grade Select Choir performed “Route 66”, “Only Hope”, “Over the Rainbow” (Soloist Taylor Garlow), and “ The Lion Sleeps Tonight” (Soloists Mike Clark and Aaron Fern; percussion, Neil Minet). “Over the Rainbow” was dedicated to DMS retirees Diane Mueller and Mary Nichols. The 7th and 8th Grade Choir performed “Bonse Aba” (with Rebecca Martin, Neil Minet, and Mackenzie Sadler on percussion), “Danny Boy” (speakers: Kristen Goodwin, Claire Hammerschmidt, Matt Gooden, and Mike Clark), “The Rhythm of Life”, and “The River Sleeps Beneath the Sky” (7th and 8th Grade Art Presentation by Art Teachers Shannon Femano and Cher Ferrara).

The highlight of the DMS Spring Choral Concert was a performance by the Faculty Choir. The enthusiastic audience rose to their feet in applause as the faculty group performed Journey's "Don't Stop Believin". The choir was joined by Brian Ackles, Noah Schoeneck (student) on guitar, Scott MaComber on electric guitar, Dean Olin on bass, Jennifer Patterson on synthesizer, Shannon Femano on piano, and Michael Cirmo and Neil Minet (student) on drums. The concert came to an exciting conclusion as the “Combined Choirs” with Ackles on guitar, Daniel Poorman (Marcellus Alumni) on bass, and Michael Dardaris on drums, performed “Lean on Me”.
