Marcellus Central School District Team Participates in the 2011 Race for the Cure

Fourteen members of the Marcellus Schools educational community put both foot and wheel to pavement as they participated in the 2011 Susan G. Komen Race for a Cure held on May 14, 2011 at the New York State Fairgrounds. The Race for a Cure event included a parade of survivors, a one mile kid’s walk, and a 5K wheelchair/walk/run. Members of the 2011 Marcellus Mustangs Race for the Cure school team included Sue Arnold, Cody Arnold, Larry Arnold, Steve Larison, Meg Powell, Katrina Ercole, Ellen Schneider, Brad Spencer, Jessica Hehl, Heidi Szalach, Kelsey O’Brien, Shannon O’Brien, Audrey Turner, and Nikki Donahue. Cody Arnold placed first in the wheelchair division with a time of 19:47, outdistancing his dad by 13 seconds. DMS 7th/8th Grade Band Director Audrey Turner wheeled to a 5th place finish while Meg Powell raised over $100 in pledges. Heidi Szalach, SHS math teacher, ran to a third place finish in her division with a time of 22:58.
