Marcellus Sports Booster Club “Block M” Awards Banquet

The Marcellus Sports Booster Club, in conjunction with the Marcellus Schools athletic department, held its annual athletic awards banquet on Monday, June 6, 2011 in the Marcellus Senior High School Gymnasium. Student athletes and their families were greeted with a photo slide show of the 2010-2011 varsity sports year as they enjoyed the “ice cream social” flavored atmosphere of the Block M award program. The sports booster club event celebrated the accomplishments of more than 300 varsity sports student athletes from the fall, winter, and spring seasons. The ceremony was hosted by Marcellus alumni and sports broadcasting personality Michael Bristol and included remarks form Marcellus varsity sports coaches Lisa MacLachlan/softball, Rick Belvito/girls indoor track, Mark Sunheimer/boys soccer, Ryan Thayer/girls tennis, Joe Fiacchi/football, Joe Goss/boys golf, Hy Bryant/Volleyball, Richard Lundblad/girls lacrosse, Leo McInerney/boys lacrosse, Oscar Jensen/cross country, Ted McCone/girls track and field, Heidi Busa/boys indoor and outdoor track, Pete Birmingham/baseball, Mike Vincent/girls basketball, Jim Marsh/boys basketball, John Campbell/boys hockey, Laurie Updike/girls soccer, Ryan Thayer/boys tennis, Todd Donovan/wrestling, Mike Vincent/girls golf. The program for the evening included the presentation of individual team honors and MVPs, the presentation of “multi-sport” senior awards, the honoring of Booster Club Scholarship recipients, the presentation of Athletic Department Awards, and the announcement of the George Arthur Award.
