French Honor Society Induction Ceremony

Marcellus Senior High School held its annual French Honor Society Induction Ceremony on Sunday, March 27, 2011. French Honor Society officers presented a fine program at L'Adour Restaurant in downtown Syracuse. Inductees and their families enjoyed a three-course French meal, lit candles to celebrate their success, and sang the Marseillaise. French Honor Society President Joelle Orecki spoke about service to the global community, particularly to a school in Haiti that students aided. Vice President Eddie Powers spoke about the cultural value of the French language while referencing European history and Haitian literature and music. Treasurer Heather Heinekamp spoke about the academic value of the French language and talked about her scholarship opportunity in a French immersion camp in Minnesota. These students have maintained a 90+ average in each year of French and they have elected to pursue French to the highest possible level available at Marcellus.
