Winter Concert: First Year Band and Fifth/Sixth Grade Select Chorus

Seventy-eight Driver Middle School First Year Band members and thirty Fifth and Sixth Grade Select Chorus members put their considerable talents on display as they performed in concert on March 4, 2010 in the Aitchison Auditorium. The First Year Band was conducted by Maureen Alvaro and the performance highlighted each section of the band. “12 the Clock Strikes” spotlighted the flute and clarinet sections. “Band Room Boogie” featured the saxophone, trumpet and French horn sections. The “Beethoven’s Ninth” selection put the trombone, baritone and percussion sections on display. The First Year Band culminated its performance with “When the Saints Go Marching In”. The Fifth and Sixth Grade Chorus, under the direction of Jennifer Patterson, performed “Coffee Anyone?”, “Alleluia! Jubilate!”, “Blowin’ in the Wind/America”, and “Ain’t That Good News”. The blending of voices and the unique arrangement on “Blowin’ in the Wind/America” was of particular note and demonstrated the talent and versatility of these young voices.
