Fifth Grade Student Original Stories Displayed at Driver Middle School Library

The poet William Wordsworth wrote, “Fill your paper with the breathings of your heart.” A read through of the literary works of Sandy Carey’s fifth grade class at Driver Middle School gives the reader a peek into the heart breathings of these young and creative writers/illustrators. Each student in Carey’s class wrote and illustrated an original story. The books have been on display at the Driver Middle School Library throughout the month of April. In addition to the actual stories and illustrations each literary work contains the following:

Cathy Lee Duncan’s “Lacey” begins with a dedication to her beloved dog, “I would like to dedicate ‘Lacey’ to my old dog Lacey. She was a loyal and loving best friend”. Michael Provvidenti dedicates his book “The Hopeless Journey” of Bob Birdy to his mother, “I dedicate this story to my mom for all the constructive criticism she gave me to help me become a better writer.” Sarah Rohe’s “Bucket List” begins with the following lines, “A bucket list. Do you have one? Cait and I have sooo many things we want to do written on our bucket list. Cait is my adventurous and fun loving 22 year old sister. Then there’s me of course, the 11 year old girl who wants to do everything in life.” The story then follows the sisters as they complete the adventures on their “bucket list”. This is just a small sampling of the creative stories that were created by Carey’s budding young writers. Listed below are story titles and authors:
