K.C. Heffernan Elementary School Third Grade Storytelling Nights

One of the great benefits of K.C. Heffernan Elementary School’s annual Beauty and the Beast Storytelling residency is the series of third grade storytelling evenings that follow the residency experience. Mitch Weiss and Martha Hamilton, the Beauty and the Beast Storytellers, spent the week of March 18th in residency with third grade classes. Each third grade student learned to tell their own story as Mitch and Martha taught lessons about tone, expression, animated movement, and “finding your voice”. The students had the opportunity to practice their storytelling skills as they shared their stories with classroom peers, with students at Driver Middle School and at the KCH senior citizen breakfast. Additionally, third grade teachers Maria Healy, Janet Kringer, and Stacy Grooms held storytelling evenings in the KCH Library. Parents and families had the chance to hear stories that spanned the globe and tales that related the trials and tribulations of a variety of animals and people.
